As new assets get introduced into the game it could be based on land owner tasks. For example, there could be 3 days for land owners to do something to make/grow/collect/etc and then 3 day for VIPs to utilize the unmaintained lands. Then on the 7th day the thing is released and players can trade the resource for the new item (or towards it along with some $berry).
For example, the sneakers could have been released this way. Everyone could have been harvesting some random rubber trees that appear or something.
This would create community connection through labor, give utility to land, and build excitement for new things.
